Microchipping your dog is a great way to secure your ownership to your pet. Collars and tags can be removed or fall off, a microchip is permanent. It’s peace of mind that if your dog is missing, once found, your dog’s microchip number will enable contact directly to you. It’s the quickest and most effective way to get your beloved pet back home to you safe and sound.
Why is it important to ensure my dog is microchipped?
A microchip is the only permanent method of connecting your personal contact information to your dog.
How it works a microchip work and is it safe?
A microchip is very safe and is implanted very quickly by injection. It works by having the microchip number registered with 24PetWatch (the most common microchip company in Canada) with all your contact information. When your pet is missing, once found, all shelters, veterinary clinics, etc. have a microchip scanner. It’s the first thing they check to reunite this found dog with their owner. Once your dog is scanned (most common injection site is between the shoulder blades), the microchip number displays and 24PetWatch is called. This microchip company then relays all your contact information to the finder, so you can be contacted immediately.
How much does it cost to microchip a dog?
Please contact us about the cost of your dog’s microchip. We recommend administering and registering them at 6 months of age when they are in for their neuter or spay surgery.
